New Year, New Understanding of Technology

2021 will be a year of new inventions, experiences, IPOs, conversations, sales, and new technology.

But it will also be a year for more.

Now that covid is on its way out (good riddance), that will mean more of the world will open back up. More travel, more eating out, but most importantly for this article, more technology usage; especially in the form of Digital Transformation.

Covid reinforced to us that remote work is possible & may even be better in some cases. The digital age is only growing, and we must grow alongside it.

Adapting to New Technology

Think back to the last new thing you learned.

How long did it take you to become efficient? Are you even efficient at it already??

I recently switched from FinancialForce PSA to Mission Control PSA. There’s a BIG difference between the two, even though they serve the same purpose & both live on Salesforce. It drives me insane that two identical capabilities are named differently (I’m looking at you CMD button on Mac).

If it weren’t for WalkMe guiding me and automating my key processes, I’d still be sitting here annoying my teammates or reaching out to the admin for help constantly.

All I have to do is start the walkthru, and I am guided interactively step-by-step to complete my process (ie: closing out this Project) while ensuring that I fill out all the important fields.

On average, it takes a new employee three to six months to finish their training; but around a year to actually utilize their time correctly. That’s a lot of time, to say the least.

With WalkMe, we’ve seen an average 50% decrease in onboarding time (via Forrester TEI study

The question now is, how is that decrease in onboarding time achieved with new technology?

WalkMe Array of Solutions

When utilizing WalkMe’s vast array of solutions, we’d want to focus on a primary goal for each phase. For instance, in this phase, we want to reduce the onboarding time. This can be done utilizing the following (but definitely not limited to):

Onboarding Task List: Create a list of required processes that new hires MUST complete before moving on to the next phase.

Resources: Provide easily accessible articles, pdfs, videos, guides for you to reach through the widget, as opposed to navigating all the way to another site and sifting through pages and pages just to find that one topic you need.

Smart Walk-Thrus: Giving them the guidance they need when they need it. Training them step by step on where to go, what to look for, what to enter.

SmartTips: Don’t need the entire process? Just need information on one field? Maybe a dropdown has 10 different options and we need to understand what all these options are but we don’t want to reach out to support and waste a day waiting for them to respond? Add a SmartTip. It gives the right information at the right time.

Surveys: Great to implement a survey if you value any feedback during the onboarding structure!

Scratching the Surface

The apps above are just a few of what we’ve seen successful time and time again in order to build a complete, rockin, onboarding experience. But at the end of the day, there is so much more.

We might think it’s difficult to have this new technology or product at our disposal, with all these capabilities. “What do I do with it?” “Why are there so many things available to me; I just have one goal.” “Urgh it’s so complicated I’ll just use what I know & not think about the other things I don’t know about.”

You’re not in this alone! A lot of other people feel the same but there’s a way for you to adapt to these technologies faster and more efficiently.
